Chandler West is a photo editor and photographer based in San Francisco.
West graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a B.A. in Journalism and Photography. He spent five years as a freelance photojournalist in Chicago, covering a variety of subjects, including the Ferguson protests, Lollapalooza music festival, Chicago police black sites, gun owners in Kentucky, and local community events. His pictures have been featured by a slew of publications, including the Chicago Sun-Times, The Guardian, The Huffington Post, Time Out Chicago, Vice, and The Wall Street Journal's Photo Journal. He has also shot marketing campaigns for CVS Pharmacy, Loyola University Chicago, Northwestern University, and the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
West moved to New York City in 2015, hoping to apply his experiences as a photojournalist to a new career as a photo editor. He was keen on making an impact as an advocate for photographers. His first opportunity for that was as Associate Photo Editor at Refinery29, where he hired freelance photographers to shoot news stories that catered to millennial women. He later worked as the principal Campaign Photo Editor for Hillary Clinton's Presidential run.
Most recently, West moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to work as Multimedia Specialist for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. He lives with his girlfriend and their Shiba Inu. During his free time, he enjoys comic books and milkshakes. He still cries whenever he hears "Fight Song."
